Steps to Join
Contact a recruiter
Your first step is to get in touch with your local recruiter. They will answer all your questions, guide you through the process, and ensure you’re taking the right steps towards your goal.
Eligibility criteria
Discuss your citizenship and work status, age (17 to 35; parental consent for under 18), medical history, and education (high school diploma or GED preferred).
ASVAB test
Take the ASVAB test and maintain a good score to assess your skills and knowledge in various areas. Your recruiter will help you prepare.
Medical exam
Complete a physical examination to ensure you meet required fitness standards.
After you qualify
- Complete necessary paperwork and undergo a security clearance process.
- Undergo Basic Combat Training (BCT) to develop the skills needed to become a National Guard.
Choose your path
- Explore the diverse range of available Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) within the Colorado Army National Guard. Your recruiter can help you find the one that best matches your skills and aspirations.
- Based on your interests and goals, choose your area of specialization and receive specialized training in your chosen MOS.
- Receive specialized training Advanced Individual Training (AIT) in your chosen MOS to become proficient in your job.
Join your unit
Join your designated Colorado Army National Guard unit and begin serving your community and state.
